Sup. I should preface this with a bit of what's going down & what my point of being here is... CHECK THIS ORIGINAL FLAVOR!! A blog by a disgruntled idiot with a chip on his shoulder of how things have gone, and where they're headed.., how novel. But basically I just want to make a small pocket where I can do what all aging dudes do and shine a light on what they perceive as their own 'glory years', back when things were simpler, when you could lie on your skateboard listening to Public Enemy on a walkman watching the sun set over your house, of when you'd ride BMXs around the block at night to go egging with your friend, when you'd put on a new record and have your stomach roll out in backflips of excitement as you peak through the curtains of a window to a world you never knew existed.
I often ponder what it's like to be a late teen these days. So much of that time is delving into the unknown, of discovery, uncertainty and angst, but now with the internet, and access to any whim for information, I wonder how that feels. Do kids still pour over album covers for info, daydream about how someone would have made something as unfathomable as Star Wars, or would they just wiki it the second it enters their mind? Do they have the heavy blanket of anticipation whilst trying to unravel the secrets of a creative mind or body you would give anything to understand? Where does that leave a kid? Does it strip the base mechanism that builds nostalgia itself?
So maybe this is me trying to bridge that gap. Maybe share the feelings I have of those times in comparison, or maybe i'm just into feeling those feelings again as they become more abstract as the years march on, as my friends have their own kids to go through those first experiences again. So here are my golden years, of music & popular culture, perhaps i'll be showing some hidden gold to some, or reliving magical moments for others. Really, I don't give a fuck, I just wanna post some videos and songs from the 80s and 90s, because as much as I think the internet could be ruining it for kids today in some way, it's the greatest tool for nostalgia fools ever. We grew up begging for info, craving it, and now we can get it, it's time to OD. So yeah, another 80s/ 90s nostalgia blog... But if you don't like it, my nuts are here for suckin'.
